Stuck indoors on a rainy day and need some fun-spiration? Here are some lovely activities to do with your energetic toddler to keep them busy during lockdown.

Why not create a special jar full of these ideas and pull one out at random when you need a fun activity in a hurry?

Family Bake Off

Who can make the best cupcakes or cookies? Why not add a bit of competitive fun to rainy days with a family Bake Off. Our Little Dish Family Cookbook is packed with recipes that will keep little helpers busy, but also provide a delicious treat for the whole family. Some of our favourites include chocolate cakes, banana bread, carrot cake and mixed fruit muffins. Don’t forget to tag #littledish in your creations.

Do a family puzzle

You can even make your own puzzle using a printout of your little one’s favourite animals and cutting them into jigsaw pieces.

Create some paper snowflakes

Paper snowflakes make a lovely festive decoration, especially when the sunlight shines through. Have fun cutting out pretty shapes with your little one and sticking them on the window to create a gorgeous wintry scene.

Make a bookmark

Make bookmarks to match bedtime story favourites.

Make a farmyard for your animals

Grab a cardboard box and some crayons, and create a fabulous farmyard for your little one’s animal toys and teddies.

Make shadow puppets and tell a story

A classic childhood activity - all you need is a shadow and your imagination.

Build a fort

Great for when it’s cold outside, use sofa cushions or beanbags to create a fort to read your favourite books in.

Make a marble run

This activity will need a bit of supervision but it’s great fun. Make a marble run with toilet rolls, ramps and cereal boxes and see whose marbles can roll the fastest.

Play dress up

Dress up as your favourite characters, whether it’s the Gruffalo or The Tiger Who Came to Tea, and get Mum and Dad involved too!

Make Christmas cards

Add a personal touch to Christmas cards by getting your little one to make their own. Make holly and star shape potato stamps, dip them in colourful paint and sprinkle on some glitter.

We hope these fun activities help keep your little one busy during lockdown.
